This tour of Kamaka Hawai‘i offers a behind-the-scenes look at the century-old craft of hand-making world-class ukuleles from Hawaiian koa wood. Participants will witness each stage of production and hear stories of Kamaka’s rich history and family legacy. This experience blends cultural immersion, creative inspiration, and Hawaii history.
Kamaka Ukulele President Chris Kamaka is a third-generation Hawaiian luthier and co-owner of Kamaka Ukulele, the iconic family-run company renowned worldwide for its handcrafted koa ukuleles. Raised in Honolulu, he began working in the business as a teenager, learning every step of the instrument-making process from his father, Sam Kamaka Jr.
Chris earned a degree in business and art design from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and is an accomplished musician, winner of multiple Na Hoku Hanohano awards.

Where can I park?
There are limited parking spaces out front and metered street parking. Additional paid parking is available across the street at Keauhou Place (home to UPS and Down to Earth).
Will any meals be served?
No.
What should I wear? Can I bring food or water?
Participants are advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing and bring water bottles as the open-air factory can get warm.
