HART’s design and construction progress on the third Skyline segment, connecting Mokauea (Kalihi) Station to Ka‘ākaukukui (Civic Center Station) in Kaka‘ako, is progressing rapidly. This pivotal phase will bring Skyline service into Honolulu's urban core, creating a seamless, high-capacity transit connection for residents, travelers, and the business community.

In addition, the recent signing of Bill 60 further advances this momentum by authorizing HART to begin planning and preliminary studies for potential Skyline extensions.

Please join us for our upcoming luncheon on Thursday, April 16, featuring HART’s Executive Director and CEO Lori Kahikina. Lori will share the latest updates on Skyline’s construction progress and future plans as the project moves forward.

HART is the agency responsible for planning and constructing Skyline—Hawaiʻi’s first urban rail system and the largest public infrastructure project in the state’s history. Lori is the first woman and the first person of Native Hawaiian ancestry to lead the agency. Under her leadership, Skyline’s first segment opened in 2023, followed by the second segment’s opening on October 16, 2025, which added five miles of guideway and four stations, extending service through the airport to Kalihi and improving access to major employment and transit centers. The third segment, now in design and construction, will extend Skyline through downtown Honolulu and is scheduled to open in 2031.
