This one-hour workshop introduces systems thinking as a way to see how challenges are connected. Using talent in Hawaiʻi as an example, participants will explore how factors such as cost of living, career opportunities, education, and workplace practices influence one another.
Together, we’ll sketch those relationships, look for patterns, and build a shared starting point for deeper discussion. The goal is to leave with a clearer picture of the system and better questions to explore next.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Constancio Paranal III is an interdisciplinary leader who translates complex challenges into actionable outcomes.

As a principal management consultant to Fortune 100 companies, he supported major business transformations, including the Bank of America–Merrill Lynch integration. In Hawaiʻi, he helped secure more than $1.5 million in grants and congressional earmarks for the City and County of Honolulu, administered $10 million in federal COVID-19 recovery funds for small businesses, and led the RFP process and audit for the State’s unemployment insurance technology modernization during the pandemic.

His international experience in global talent and workforce development at Fujitsu JAIMS informed his decade of teaching at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and West Oʻahu.

Today, as Co-Executive Director of the Hawaiʻi Coalition for Immigrant Rights, he applies systems thinking to advancing immigrant and migrant rights. He helped mobilize more than 1,000 testimonies and 100 lobby-day advocates, contributing to six new state laws, and led a statewide Language Access Summit and Hawaiʻi’s first-ever Immigration and Inclusion Conference with over 200 local and national attendees.
